Our garage is absolutely full to bursting with baby clothes, toddler toys, prams, and cots – so this weekend we decided to do a baby and children’s sale to try to clear out some space. If I’m being completely honest, it’s a task I really don’t enjoy. As soon as I start unpacking the bags and the clothes start to spill out, I’m immediately taken back to the early days of each of my boys…
Usually winter time is about snuggling up under blankets, admiring the fairy lights twinkling on the tree, and drinking hot chocolate (spiked with Baileys for me!), watching Christmas films, then forgetting what day it is in that weird time between Christmas and New Year.
Being a grown up, especially at the moment, is exhausting! Not only are you responsible for feeding and watering little people, you also have to make sure they’re at school/pre-school on time, with their bags and their trousers on the right way! There’s shopping to do, food to cook, cleaning to do, Sooooooo many snacks…
When we started the business in September 2018, we had no idea what to expect! We just knew that we loved cooking, we loved working with children and we loved trying out new bakes!
There is a change in the air… I know you felt it too, before you went to sleep. Buzzing with excitement and knowing that you would at last be reunited with your friends.
As we approach the last week or so before your little angels return to school after a summer holiday like no other, I reflect on what it means to me now and in the past.
Seriously, the days are long and during lockdown, the months felt long too! When it first started, I had all these notions of emerging from the house 2 stone lighter, having read a collection of thoughtful books, having learnt to cook Cordon Bleu stylie and speaking fluent Italian!
This feature is a throwback to the summer of 2018! and was originally published on our site Barnstaple Babies and Beyond. My amazing friend Jade and I started this website as a way of getting to know the area and meeting new mums. The site is no longer running but the friendships we have made will last a lifetime.
